Some Fun Ideas on Having a Contest

Here are some ideas for contests in your own community... encourage engagement and just have some fun!

• Photo Contest: photos from an event or something related to your community.
• Video Contest: a quick (90 sec) video sharing a tip. Great way to gather quality consumer generated content and it gets the comments flying.
• Best Blog Post: a contest for the best post or comment on a hot topic for your community
• Design Contest: have your members design the cover of your magazine or something on your newsletter or website.
• Favorite Member Poll: easy way to get members to participate and a way to thank members who often contribute great content to your community.
• Scavenger Hunt: Plant hints throughout your community in forums and groups etc.
• Contest Idea From Them: you can also ask your members via a discussion thread or a poll to suggest a contest and then whoever suggests the best contest gets to judge the contest
• Prize Options: feature the winner or interview the winner in your newsletter or magazine if you have one. This can be a helpful way to tie the community to your traditional marketing channels.
